the sem is finally over and though i'm not officially done yet (thesis and all), i am a free man.
i have been doing some wandering around the city but it's mostly for my thesis. i'll post 'em here when i'm done but for now, it's still under wraps. oh and i got the funding that i was hoping for--so that's good but a bit of a pressure too. the pressure is welcome though! i really want this thing i'm doing to change some things around here.
totally unrelated; just a postcard from my italian friends when they were in Paris |
just so it's not totally vague, my thesis is on tourism. of course, i was kinda expecting i'd end up doing this. something i love to do that won't actually have me pulling out my hair before i finish it. and to be honest, i feel like it's not even work. though a lot of it could be done so much faster if i had a car to get around.
anyways, let me update on a few things. last week was finals week. i got exempted in two of my classes and so all i had to worry about is theology. i also had a "presentation" for the funding on tuesday which i prepared for days ahead. but it turned out that i didn't need to prepare at all because i got chosen already! along with this dude from Burma. and well weeks before that was a blur of stress and pressure that i'd really opt not to write about.
moving along... i always took a break from the studying and in one of my breaks, i got to watch Eat, Pray, Love and boy was i itching to get out and wander again but then i realized i had no money. haha. obviously, the Italy part of the movie grabbed me by the balls and made me scream like a little girl out of nostalgia. ok maybe not. haha. but i was really reminiscing like crazy knowing i was there where they filmed those things. i even have some pictures that were the same shots as in the movie! the india part was cool too. makes me really want to go venture to that area of the world. and hopefully before next month-- an indian friend of mine is getting married and i'd really want to witness one. the colors and the festivities makes my trigger-happy, amateur photographer self all excited just thinking about the possible shots i can take. and the bali part was where it kinda went downhill. the movie is really just chick-flicky and emotional but don't get me wrong, i don't hate chick-flicks...it's just when i feel that the movie could've done without that part. or handled it better, at the very least.
but then they really couldn't have taken that part out of the movie cos then they'd have to call it Eat, Pray, ...Bali? or Surf! that would've been a totally different movie.
goes and wanders
