on a day like this

on a day like this...

a day deprived of sleep

and

exhaustion is on an unusual high...

these are the days when i long for a patch of grass to lay on and get a quick shuteye.

_______________________________

pics are from Oslo, Norway during and after my quick shuteye on the random patch of grass i so happily found while wandering...i needed the shuteye because the sun was up at 5am and down at 10pm. i barely had darkness to work with in my sleep.

Tagaytay and Kinse: Batch 2011 shoot

picking up from my last post, here are some crappy pictures from my mobile during our weekend trip to Tagaytay. it was a nice break. the first weekend i didn't bring home any work! i also got to take advantage of the time and caught up on my sleep after very heavy meals, one for frank's birthday lunch at Chili's then brunch at Tagaytay. And more time for "Into the Wild." more posts on that later.

the pictures are of cool American style houses i really liked in Tagaytay.

then, yesterday, i shot a short film under the direction of Jim Libiran for ANC's Kinse. The film is called Batch 2011 and it focuses on human rights and its origins. We shot at Bahay Nakpil in Quiapo! i don't have any pictures because it was a pretty long day of acting, memorizing lines and all that stuff that by the time we finished, my phone couldn't handle how dark it was already. the house was really nice though! old filipino/spanish style with the capiz windows and wooden furniture! so it was an architecture-filled weekend!

we also felt this intensity 3 earthquake during the shoot! it lasted for a few minutes and we all got a bit of a scare for the possibility of an aftershock! what is it with all these earthquakes and other natural disasters happening?!

waking up not knowing

i freaked out when i woke up today.
i didn't know where i was. the setup was the same as where i'm crashing as of the moment except for some details.

for a second i thought, maybe i really didn't go back to the philippines yet. but that'd be an extremely long nightmare.

but yeah, i like waking up not knowing where i am. not in the damn-i-had-such-a-crazy-night-now-i-have-a-killer-hangover-and-i-don't-know-how-i-ended-up-here sense. i remember having mornings like these during my year abroad. especially when i was on couchsurfing.

i recall telling Vane when i slept over her house in Alta Villa that i had slept good and me forgetting where i was indicated that because that meant i felt comfortable during my sleep which usually is just at home. you know when you sleep over someone's place and even though you slept well, you still feel uneasy because you know even in your dreams that your at a different place. and so, i rambled on and on again.

anyway, i am at frank's place. slept over after the salubong for his birthday and will head out to see the garage sale of chachi in a while. glad i can still file this under "wandering". and maybe, tagaytay tonight with the boys.

itchy feet

i've seen the movie a number of times already(though not as much as the beach.)
and it is a moving tale. a lot of travelers i have met love this movie and couchsurfers has this in their favorite movie list in their profile too. it is one of those things that can be associated to them who lead their lives on the road(much like the beach too!:)).
executed in film from a book by Jon Krakauer.
emile hirsch did a good job playing Christopher Johnson McCandless aka Alexander Supertramp. even kristen stewart shone here. it is, after all, her pre-Twilight days.
before i digress further into rating and giving this movie my number of stars, i'll stop and move on to the book.
there really is magic in words. the book is so much more engaging. and with books i really like, it's not a pageturner effect that i get. i'd rather not end it too soon and so i delay finishing it so the words can sink in. i find myself editing the movie in my head, making my own revisions accordingly. i must admit how there is danger in this book though. he ran such a different world. he was more into the ideals and forgot to be realistic. but he still had a lot to be admired about him. if he lived with 20% realism and 80% idealism, he probably would've continued on to be a great man but who am i to talk right. im just another reader who can relate to the story.

here are some lines from the book im refusing to finish so soon:

'Malnutrition and the road have taken their toll on his body. Over 25 pounds lost. But his spirit is SOARING.'

'I'm going to have to be real careful not to accept any gifts from them in the future because they will think they have bought my respect.'

'Kind of like a statement, to let us know we didn't own him, I guess.'

'I now walk into the wild.' Alexander Supertramp

so, i'll probably have a few more posts about this book since i'm not even halfway to finishing it. and also because i can't satisfy my own itchy feet because i still do have a high percentage of that realism i was talking about. oh and because the agency wanted to keep me longer too. let's hope i save up for my bday! :)

in need of waves...but in need of money more

i miss surfing.
last time i did was more than half a year ago. in another continent.
the only thing i was really looking forward to doing right before school started.
i just saw a bunch of pictures on facebook about an event in the place i usually go to surf and normally, i would have planned to be there. but no. there is no room for any luxuries now.
i have got bills to pay. :)
i hate the real world.
