there hasn't been any activity on this site in terms of wandering. it's just because money has been hard to come by recently. i've been looking for part-time jobs, rackets or any possible place to get that elusive thing that makes the world go round and sadly, the same thing that also funds my wanderlust.
of course, with the lack of wandering going on in my life, i still manage to 'wander' through following travelers with my very young tumblr account. i get to see amazing photographs and occasionally smile with a sense of familiarity whenever photos of Venice, Paris, Milan, Rome or any city i got to know comes up.
i've also been busy with this play i am doing too! Stages of Love! it's for BlueRepertory and it really is a nice, heartwarming show anyone will surely enjoy! it's a musical made up of popular songs arranged into medleys by Rony Fortich. It was Andrei Pamintuan's baby for BlueRep and is now directed by Jill Pena. if you are anywhere near Manila, do try to catch the show! message me for details.
tomorrow, i have another interview for a job. hopefully, my schedule won't be a problem with them again. it's for a creatives position in some advertising agency. wish me luck.

Photomemories 5
yet another snow pic.
it's amazing how much we want things we can't have...i remember how much i wanted winter to end and how i longed to wear shorts yet again. now, it's all i ever wear here in Manila. oh and a shirt or something.
i took this picture in Italy. I'll get back to you where exactly but i remember it was one of the ESN Ski Trips.

Postcrossing: the post crossing project
who doesn't like receiving postcards?most of us today rarely if not never even gets to enjoy this piece of mail anymore. Postcrossing's main idea is: if you send a postcard, you will receive at least one postcard from a random place in the world. Give your favorite social networking a break and do try to send a real life update to some random person in the world.

today in class...
today in class, we will be discussing Vittorio de Sica's The Bicycle Thief. I don't know how many times I've seen this movie! first was for class in Theo/Philo...then a couple more times in Italy for History of Cinema, Music in Cinema, History of Italian Cinema, etc.
The movie is of neorealist style and has a labor sector story. A father finds work as a delivery man and has his bicycle stolen at the beginning of the movie. He and his son is followed all throughout the movie in search of this bicycle. The movie was given an Honorary Academy Award for best foreign film in 1950 and considered to be one of the best examples of neorealist films.
I really did not care much for the movie at first but after tackling it more than once, i have learned to love it. The story is very sad but this sheds light on the reality that was happening in Italy right after the war and if you've been following me, anything that is somewhat related to the war is interesting to me.
anyway, im basically excited for this class because i get to hear italian again! haha. i really have to find a constant way to practice my italian here in manila. do try to watch this movie if you want to know what i'm talking about otherwise never mind.

my ideal room...?
another airport review site!
i blogged about a site which reviews airlines before and now i found a better one! this one seems to be more up-to-date and therefore more reliable for you wanderers hoping to spend the night or even just a few hours in an airport!
AirlineQuality is the site to go to but just in case it doesn't satisfy, go back to The Budget Traveller Guide to Sleeping in Airports
fyi, Manila is in the top 5 worst airports of 2010 according to the second link. So, an advice is to fly Philippine Airlines when coming to the Philippines if you'd like to experience a slightly better airport quality!
i seriously hope that people in the Manila International Airport have heard of the new thing called the internet and somehow finds their way to both of these sites which have really bad reviews of their workplace!

Long absence
It has been a while since I have gone wandering and so it was a delight to have been invited to Pagudpud by Frankie. The picture above is of Andrea, an Italian Kitesurfing instructor getting ready to launch. along with Andrea were two other italians and i finally got to practice my italian with them! unfortunately, i didnt get to try kitesurfing. the place is perfect for it but not for beginners. also, i just found it too equipment heavy. same problem with windsurfing wherein you just lose so much time in preparation instead of surfing where you just go and ride the waves! anyway, the vacation was a great one nonetheless! thanks to the Escalers and Manotoks for letting me crash their family outing.
New Year's was a surprise too! i thought it'd pass just like christmas did but thanks to Chachi, Mian and her family, NYE turned out to be really fun! Chachi picked me up in Mandarin Oriental after the countdown and then we headed to Republiq, to meet up with Mian and her family! the last time i enjoyed myself in a club was in Q bar in Padova with all the Erasmus peeps! i really missed last year's NYE in Paris with Co and Maica though! getting lost in the streets of Paris, running to see the Eiffel tower, people shouting BANANA(bonne annee) in Champs Elysees!
this last picture is from when i surfed in Levanto c/o Sophie Bean!the pic below is of Timberland Heights in San Mateo. Angelo brought me along to this country club and we grabbed a bite with this view in front of us! i never realized there was such a place until this time! long overdue pic of timberland heights in San Mateo

here's to a new year! let it be filled with more adventures and less stress than what has been going on these past few months!
